Resident Council

A Resident Council is an organized group of nursing home residents that meets on a regular basis to discuss concerns, suggest changes the residents would like, and identify and plan for desired social activities. Residents who are members of the council hold the meetings and guide the council efforts. A facility appointed staff advisor or liaison is required to support the council and respond to written requests/concerns arising from the council meetings. The liaison may or may not be invited to attend the meetings.

If no council exists at your facility, contact the regional ombudsman for assistance in joining other residents to form one.
